Hello, my name is Elaine Ferrell-Burns, (aka Mrs. EFB) and I am your Glencoe Teacher-Librarian. I am happy to have the opportunity to work with such an outstanding Glencoe educational community of excellent staff, committed parents, amazing leadership, and well prepared students. Working with a highly motivated community of learners makes my job of teaching Reading Engagement, Technology Integration, Digital Citizenship, and Information Literacy all the more exciting. I am a Portland native who grew up in the SE area of town and graduated from Franklin High School. I went on to attend Portland State University where I earned a Masters degree in Education and a Library Media Endorsement. Throughout my tenure in PPS I have taught multiple grade levels and subjects. By far, my excitement and passion is teaching students in the Library Media Center. My husband and I of 27 years have been fortunate to be able to raise two great kids, both of which attended Mt. Tabor MS, have grown into young adults, and are now embarking upon their careers. When I am not teaching, you can find me in my 1925 Arch English home curled up with my two cats and dog, happily reading the best of children's literature or perusing the pages of my adult book group selection. I also like to hike, the biggest challenge, Guatemala's Pacaya Volcano. I can shake some moves when Zumba dancing, and have recently taken up Tai Chi.
